Duane Paddock to announce $100,000 gift to Summit
Duane R. Paddock, Owner of Paddock Chevrolet, Inc., in Kenmore, will announce a major gift to Summit Educational Resources at the organization’s 8th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, August 4, at Lancaster Country Club, 6061 Broadway, in Lancaster.
Mr. Paddock will pledge $100,000 to help support programs and services for children and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities.
“Summit has a reputation in Western New York for providing high quality educational services to children and young adults with developmental disabilities including autism,” Mr. Paddock said. “I have been personally touched by just a few of the hundreds of families Summit serves and wanted to do something substantial to help them,” Mr. Paddock said.
Over the past 35 years, Summit has grown to serve more than 1700 children each year through a variety of home-based and family support services, as well as the year-round school program at Summit Academy. Approximately 350 students attend Summit Academy with more than 50 percent diagnosed with autism. Autism is the country’s fastest growing developmental disability affecting 1 in every 150 children. Autism affects a person’s communication and social skills as well as behavior.
“Summit is very gratified by Paddock Chevrolet’s generous support. Community partners Like Paddock Chevrolet are vital in helping us meet the significant needs of children with autism and to support their families,” said Dr. Stephen R. Anderson, Summit’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Paddock Chevrolet has enjoyed success in the Western New York community for more than 70 years,” Mr. Paddock said. “We’re pleased to be able to give something back to children and families of Western New York who are faced with the daily challenges of developmental disabilities.”
In addition to his financial support, Mr. Paddock will support production of several public service announcements to increase autism awareness. The announcements will air on local television stations.
