Paddock USA's top Chevy dealer

Paddock Chevrolet Inc. was GM's national leader in Chevrolet new vehicle sales for the first four months of this year.

The Kenmore dealership's 1,450 sales of Chevrolet cars, SUVs and trucks topped by 28 units its nearest rival, a dealer in Grapevine, Texas, President Duane Paddock said.

One of 3,460 Chevrolet dealers in the United States, Paddock previously was notified by the company that he was the overall Chevrolet sales leader in February and April. The Texas dealership, Classic Chevrolet, was top-ranked in January and March.

"This (back-and-forth) competition adds a lot of fun to our business," Paddock said.

"I know Tom Durant quite well. We are both very competitive individuals as our stores are. But we don't bet. When we win, there's a lot of fun in that. But if we lose, we take the shot. It's all about pride," he said.

Unlike Western New York, suburban Dallas where Grapevine is located is a growing area.

"We are able to do so well because of our people and because Chrevrolet and domestic products are so popular in our region because of the connection so many people have to General Motors," Paddock said.

Paddock has 135 employees, compared to an estimated 175 at the Texas dealership.

Through May 1, Paddock said his best sellers have been Impala and Malibu automobiles, and Silverado light-duty trucks.
